June 3, 1886: The Comet readers learned of the death of an area resident. âMary A. Andis, died at her residence, six miles south of Jonesboro, May 4, 1886, in the seventy-second year of her age. Mrs. Andis was twice married, first to Mr. Nathaniel H. Willis in Harrisonburg, Va., Oct. 2, 1837, and then to Mr. Adam Andis in Jonesboro, Tenn., June 18, 1860.â
More details revealed, âShe was a member of the Baptist Church and had been for forty-one years. Her last illness was marked by great sufferings of body. Though she was unable to talk to her friends and relatives while crossing the âlast river,â yet they derive comfort from the record of a long life of professed christian (sic) consecration and union with the people of God. It would have given her children and friends so much comfort to receive her dying testimony to her interest in the Saviour, but they were denied this happy privilege. April 13, 1866: The East Tennessee Union Flag reported, âAn interesting protracted meeting is now going on in the Presbyterian Church in this place. Considerable interest is being manifested by those in attendance, and we trust such good may be accomplished. The Church has no abler pastor than Rev. Dr. Waterbury, under whose superintendence the meeting is conducted.â
The East Tennessee Union Flag was a newspaper published in Jonesborough. The city was spelled that way on the masthead, but was spelled as Jonesboro in various places inside the newspaper.
April 13, 1899: The Comet reported, âMr. S.C. Williams has tendered his resignation as city attorney, to take effect within thirty days. Mr. Williams has made a most efficient and zealous official, but as he is the attorney for other corporations, whose legal interests are antagonistic to those of the city. Mr. Williams decided that the only proper course for him to pursue was to resign. His successor has not ....

Q: Iâm looking for a needle in a haystack. I have an 83-year-old father who wants nothing more than to watch Lawrence Welk episodes 24/7. I have exhausted every possible means to find the entire Lawrence Welk series, color episodes only, from eBay, Amazon and so onÂ â to no avail. I have only been able to find four episodes here and there. Can you possibly assist?

Answer: The reason you can t find any Lawrence Welk DVDs is because they don t exist. Susie Dowdy, the publicist for the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority, which has produced several Lawrence Welk specials said, âWe syndicate the series therefore no DVDs are available for purchase. Any found on the internet are made by fans and are illegal. We do have DVDs of our specials but those are few and only available through stations for a pledge of support. ....
