MTN has said it will appeal against the High Court decision in which it was ordered to pay money for a transitional licence amounting to $14.4m (Shs50.7b).

MTN loses Shs50.7 billion licence case against UCC

Summary
In a letter dated July 22, 2020, UCC directed MTN to pay licence fee for the transitional period between October 21, 2018 and June 30, 2020 worth $14.14m. However, MTN challenged the directive in court.

Court has dismissed with costs, a case in which MTN was challenging the legality of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) directive to pay $14.14m (more than Shs50.7b) as transition licence fee for the three year transitional period.

Bella Disu, Globacom Heiress, Takes Over At Construction Giant


Mrs Bella Disu, Executive Vice Chairman of Globacom, Second National Operator and owners of Glo Mobile, has taken over as Chairman of construction giant, Abumet Nigeria Limited.
Bella, daughter of Dr Mike Adenuga Jnr, Globacom Chairman and founder of the Nigeria telecoms group, took over the chairman’s position at the construction company on January 1, this year.
The younger Adenuga takes over from Alhaji Dr. Bamanga Tukur at Abumet, a full-service aluminium and glass solutions provider with 30 years of experience delivering its aluminium and glass products and services within the Nigerian building construction sector.
