COVID Vaccinations Began at Chelsea Soldiers' Home – Chelsea Record


On Tuesday, the first veteran residents at the Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea received the COVID-19 vaccination. Vaccination was done onsite through a federal Long Term Care pharmacy partnership program with CVS and Walgreens. The onsite vaccinations also began for staff at the Soldiers’ Home.
In Chelsea, Dominic Pitella, 94, was the first resident vaccinated at the Soldiers’ Home. Pitella has been a resident of the Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea since April 2018. Pitella, a U.S. Army Air Corps Corporal, was a cook with the 559th Air Service Group and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II 1945-1946. His awards include the Army of Occupation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. ....

Louis J. Pagnotti Jr., 94, of Old Forge, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, surrounded by his family. He was married to the late Josephine Domiano Pagnotti, who preceded him in death in 2003.
Born in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Louis Sr. and Mary Tedesco Pagnotti. Louis grew up in Old Forge, attending Old Forge schools through 10th grade. In 1942, he graduated from the Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, Virginia, at 15 years old. In 1943, he graduated from Wyoming Seminary and enrolled at Penn State University. While a college student, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the infantry, receiving a World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and the American Campaign Medal for his distinguished military service. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he completed his college education earning a degree in commerce and business. ....

James A. Nocito


James A. Nocito, 92, of West Pittston, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020.
Born in Pittston Twp. on June 22, 1928, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Ardo Nocito.
In 1945, he graduated from Pittston Twp. High School and thereafter enrolled at the University of Scranton. However, within three weeks of his 18th birthday, he left school and enlisted in the United States Army and served as a military policeman in occupied Japan. He was awarded a World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal for his service.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned home and worked at Detato’s Market and later at Acme Markets, Pittston. He then spent over 40 years in the insurance business before retiring. ....
