Belize Calls for Access to COVID-19 Vaccines during CARICOM Meeting
The Twenty-Fourth Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations of the Caribbean Community was held virtually on May sixth and seventh, 2021 under the chairmanship of Eamon Courtenay, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration. Minister Courtenay called for CARICOM’s continued advocacy for fair, equitable and timely access to COVID-19 vaccines. He also stressed that development partners and international financial institutions need to take a more tailored approach for small and vulnerable economies to access concessional financing and debt relief. Minister Courtenay also briefed his colleagues on the recent development in the Belize/Guatemala process. BELMOPAN, Belize âÂ The Twenty-Fourth Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) was held virtually on May 6-7, 2021 under the chairmanship of Eamon Courtenay, minister of foreign affairs, foreign trade and immigration.
CARICOM foreign ministers agreed to intensify the frequency of their interaction as they reemphasized the importance of the Communityâs coordinated foreign policy response. The ministers also discussed ways of strengthening the regionâs bilateral relations with traditional and new partners, as well as with hemispheric and multilateral actors.
Additionally, foreign ministers considered several issues of paramount importance for the region inclusive of the challenges to public health and food systems, and the economic and social disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic. The existential threat o ....

Amendment to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China 11: IP Crime

On December 26, 2020, the Twenty-Fourth Meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress of China voted to pass the “Amendment to the Criminal Law of the People’s Republic of China (11)” (中华人民共和国刑法修正案（十一）), which will go into effect on March 1, 2021. The Criminal Law includes several articles for intellectual property crime and the amendments increase the maximum sentencing term to up to 1o years. The amendments also add a new article somewhat similar to the US’ Economic Espionage Act potentially in effect if not in wording.
