.- The Gift of Los Angeles: Memories in Watercolor by Gayle Garner Roski features over a hundred watercolors by the LA based artist, with a spotlight on the series Los Angeles Millennium 2000-2020: a celebration of her experiences growing up and living in the City of Angels and larger SoCal region. This celebration of life was a labor of love for the artist, who completed the project while battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the rare neurodegenerative disease also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Her death in October of 2020 was an immeasurable loss to those who knew and loved her but is softened by the wonderful legacy that she leaves behind in her paintings. ....

Irvine, Calif., April 6, 2021 – Alumni and friends of the University of California, Irvine have raised more than $1 billion to support scholarships, groundbreaking research, top-notch patient care and world-class educational facilities, among other initiatives.
The $1 billion total pushes UCI across the halfway mark in its $2 billion philanthropic effort, Brilliant Future: The Campaign for UCI, which has also engaged 44,000 alumni so far – more than half the goal of 75,000 by 2024. ....

UC Irvine s Institute and Museum of California Art (IMCA) will debut a new exhibit, “
Radiant Impressions,” upon reopening in May after an over yearlong closure due to the pandemic.
Selections of California art, from the IMCA’s permanent collections and private collections, will be exhibited. Works demonstrate how California artists rendered light to convey the rich and varied meanings in everyday experience. Highlights include paintings by George K. Brandiff, E. Charlton Fortune, Elsie Palmer Payne, Arthur Grover Rider and two seminal works by Guy Rose, “The Green Parasol” and “Laguna Eucalyptus.”

After a delay, the exhibition will be on view from May 15 through Aug. 15, 2021. Radiant Impressions was originally scheduled to coincide with Jean Stern’s retirement as the senior curator of California Impressionism at IMCA in July 2020. Stern, a noted author and lecturer ....
