ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) Tuesday issued a contempt of court notice to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) registrar and sought his reply within a week.
A two-member apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, heard the review petition, filed by the Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) against apex court judgment, ordering demolition of lawyersâ illegal chambers, established on a football ground, footpaths and greenbelts in Islamabad.
The court had dismissed the IBA appeal on March 2, filed against the IHC verdict declaring the establishment of lawyer chambers as âillegal, void and without jurisdiction and authorityâ. On Tuesday, Additional Attorney General told the court that the IHC registrar had filed a reply regarding demolition of illegal lawyer chambers. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered demolition of illegal lawyer chambers, established on a football ground, footpaths and greenbelts in the federal capital.
Shoaib Shaheen advocate informed the court that several courts had also been built on the ground, to which the chief justice ordered that those courts should also been demolished.
The CJ repeatedly asked Hamid Khan to give a specific timeframe for vacating the ground from illegal occupation, but he, instead of giving a timeframe, pleaded for halting the demolition process till lawyers move to a new high court building. ....

The Supreme Court has ordered the demolition of the illegal chambers of lawyers on Islamabad s F8 football ground. The top court upheld the verdict of the Islamabad High Court and dismissed the appeal filed by the Islamabad Bar Council. Earlier, the court had stayed the demolition till the hearing of the case.
