Following intensified insurgency attacks across the country, particularly in the North, the Nigerian Army has recalled a large number of its personnel studying in civil institutions (universities and polytechnics) across the country, according to a leaked memo by the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Department of Army Training, Abuja.

SADC is committed to achieving lasting peace, security, reconciliation and development in Mozambique with the ongoing Extraordinary Troika Summit, which will culminate in the meeting of Heads of State and Government tomorrow, an expression of the region’s resolve to tackle insurgency in the country.
The extraordinary Sadc Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation meeting, that will be convened in Mozambique comes at a time when the region recommended robust action to be taken to tackle the threat of extremism and terrorism in Mozambique.
Following the double Sadc Troika held in Mozambique on the 8th of this month, President Mnangagwa, who is the outgoing SADC chair for Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation (Sadc Troika) signalled that regional military support for Mozambique may be on the way in its fight against Islamic State-aligned extremists in the Cabo ....

SADC puts Mozambique security assistance plan in motion

President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe signaled that regional military support for Mozambique may be on the way in its fight against Islamic State-aligned extremists in the Cabo Delgado region.
Mnangagwa made the comment while talking with reporters following Thursday’s Southern African Development Community (SADC) meeting, called to elevate the urgency with which the violence is being addressed.
“The Summit agreed that the SADC Force should be resuscitated and capacitated immediately so that it can intervene,” said Zimbabwe’s president, who is the outgoing SADC chair for Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation. ....

KANO: Islamic State-aligned jihadists ambushed a Nigerian military convoy, killing 15 soldiers and four militia fighters in the northeastern state of Borno, security sources said.
The convoy came under heavy attack from Islamic State West Africa Province (Iswap) fighters near Gudumbali in the Lake Chad region on Thursday, the sources said.
The attack was the latest in a jihadist conflict which has killed 36,000 people and displaced hundreds of thousands in northeast Nigeria since it began more than a decade ago. ....

Islamic State-aligned jihadists ambushed a Nigerian military convoy, killing 15 soldiers and four militia fighters in the northeastern state of Borno, security sources said Saturday.
The convoy came under heavy attack from Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters near Gudumbali in the Lake Chad region on Thursday, the sources said.
The attack was the latest in a jihadist conflict which has killed 36,000 people and displaced hundreds of thousands in northeast Nigeria since it began more than a decade ago.
We lost 15 soldiers and four civilian JTF (militia) in the terrorists ambush in the forest near Gudumbali, a military officer, who asked not to be identified, told AFP. ....
