Workers in East Midlands picking up nearly £1k a month

Roofers, bricklayers and shopfitters see biggest pay rises in June
The East Midlands is a new wages hotspot with those working in the region picking up an average £988 last month.
Workers in the area have seen their pay packets jump by more 21% in the year, the latest payroll data from Hudson Contract has said.

Other regions breaching the £900 a month average barrier include the West Midlands and East of England while the South-east, along with London, a traditional wages powerhouse also saw average pay packets hit £915. ....

Other professions seeing pay rise include M&E operatives and shopfitters
Skilled trades such as bricklayers, plasterers and electricians are cashing in on a booming housing and home improvements market with weekly wages going up by an average of 20% in a year.
Other trades seeing their wages jump since last April include roofers and joiners, according to data provided by self-employed payroll provider Hudson Contract.

Worsening material shortages could hit major projects within the next few months unless supplies improve, the chief executive of the Construction Products Association has warned.
A global shortage of construction materials including timber, steel and plastics this year because of the effects of the pandemic has so far been mostly affecting SMEs.
