The daring rescue of a shipwrecked schooner’s crew is the inspiration for a new public artwork by the “Stonehaven Banksy” – the first to be located outside his hometown.
Based on the fate of the Banff-based Isabella in a deadly gale that lashed the north-east in November 1888, the distinctive metal model is now finished and ready to be installed on the clifftops at Newtonhill. ....

Potholes highlighted with spray paint in Portlethen as residents hint that they need fixed

Residents on a Portlethen street came up with a dramatic way to draw attention to potholes plaguing the road.
Holes on Cairngrassie Drive were sprayed around with orange paint, with “fix this” also written out.
Some of the larger road hazards were turned into explicit imagery.
The pictures have garnered a big reaction on social media, with many enjoying the tongue-in-cheek manner the residents have got their point across.

The co-owner of the Old Mill Inn hotel has described the fire that tore through the premises as “another sad chapter” for the site.
Twenty firefighters were called out to South Deeside Road in Maryculter this afternoon after a blaze broke out at the historic former pub and hotel.
Four appliances and a height vehicle were used to extinguish the fire, with crews spending about three hours on-scene.
