Charles “Rusty” E. Larimer, 76, of Bellefonte, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born on July 18, 1944 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Herbert F. and Mildred (Mann) Larimer. On May 27, 1967 he married the love of his life, Charlotte (Burch) Larimer, who survives at home after sharing nearly 54 years of marriage together.
Rusty was a 1962 graduate of Bellefonte High School. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force from July 1962 until he was honorably discharged in in June 1966. Rusty worked for Verizon for 35 years until his retirement. He worked part time in retirement at Triangle Building and Supplies. ....

Bellefonte resident lodges complaint at funeral home | News, Sports, Jobs

BELLEFONTE A Bellefonte resident brought her concerns about a local funeral home to borough council earlier this week.
During public comment on Monday night, Elizabeth Hay spoke at length about the Wetzler Funeral Service and Victorian Crematory Inc., located at 206 N. Spring St.
According to Hay, there is a “strong odor” coming from the funeral home.
“With some regularity, we will smell charred bodies,” Hay said. “We will get that smell. It’s very disconcerting. It’s very upsetting. I know there’s been some issues with that even before I moved in here.”
Hay said she has lived a few doors down from the funeral home for four years. ....

Joseph “Joe” M. Benner, 72, of Bellefonte, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Mount Nittany Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born on April 9, 1949 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Dorothy Hull and was raised by his grandparents, the late Russell and Helen Benner.
On Nov. 8, 1968, he married Deborah (Garner) Benner, who survives him at home after sharing over 52 years of marriage together.
Joe was a graduate of Bellefonte High School, Class of 1967. Prior to his retirement, Joe worked for Weis Markets for more than 50 years.
In addition to his wife, Deborah, he is survived by his children, Amy Jo Benner, and Carol Fazler (Karl); two brothers, Ed Benner, and Tom Benner (Janet), and one sister, Helen Eckley (Dale). Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Greg Garner (Sue), sisters-in-law, Bonnie Burris (Jim), and Karin Garner; three grandsons, three great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces a ....

James A. Brooks, Jr., 79, of Howard, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at Embassy of Hearthside in State College, after being a patient for three weeks.
Born on Dec. 18, 1941 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late James A. Brooks, Sr., and Helen (McClusick) Brooks. On April 4, 1981 in Pine Glen, he married his beloved wife, Marjorie (Shuey) Brooks, who survives him at home after sharing nearly 40 years of marriage together.
James was a 1959 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. He served in the United States Army from July 1960 until he was honorably discharged to care for his ill mother in July 1966. ....

Samuel “Sam” M. Rice III, 49, of Bellefonte, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021. Born on Oct. 30, 1971, in Lewistown, he was the son of Samuel M. Rice, Jr., and Linda (Wise) Rice, who are both surviving in McClure and Lewistown, respectively. On Feb. 11, 1997, he married the love of his life, Bridget (McGuire) Rice, who survives him at home after sharing over 24 years of marriage together.
Sam was a 1990 graduate of Lewistown Area High School. He served in the U.S. Army Corps. 182nd Airborne.
In addition to his wife, Bridget, and parents, he is survived by his two children: Annelise, of Miami, Florida, and Wyldon, of Bellefonte. Also surviving are two sisters, Linda Moyer, of McClure, and Samantha Rice, of Hobart, Indiana. ....
