A criminal defense lawyer is facing possible financial sanctions after walking out of a pre-trial hearing in Westchester County Court Tuesday when the judge would not adjourn it.
Paul Gentile, representing Dr. Matthew Bonanno on weapon charges, said he was stilll awaiting records and also could not proceed because COVID-19 restrictions did not let him sit “cheek to jowl” with his client so he could confer with him.
I m not willing to risk my life or the life of my client for some bureaucratic need to reduce caseloads, he told acting state Supreme Court Justice Robert Neary. 
But when Neary allowed the prosecution to call the first witness, Gentile got up, proclaimed “I’m not going to participate in this rank injustice” and left. ....

PROVIDENCE — When the US Census Bureau announced on Monday that Rhode Island would keep its two seats in the US House of Representatives, the news certainly came as a relief to Representatives James R. Langevin and David N. Cicilline.
