Young Stranraer volunteer reaches the 'Summit' for her work with the police

Rachael Baird receives her Summit Award from Wendi Cuffe and Sergeant Billy McEwan.
The accolade is part of the Saltire Awards, and is only presented to those who have carried out over 800 volunteering hours.
Wendi Cuffe, v olunteer c hampion at Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway (TSDG) , helped present the award.
She said: “Many organisations in Dumfries and Galloway could not function without the teams of dedicated volunteers.
Personally, through volunteering, I have been challenged to try something different, achieved personal goals, discovered new skills, but more importantly met new friends and felt happy.”

SHS Seniors Receive WYDOT Employees Association Scholarship – Sheridan Media

The Wyoming Department of Transportation district four Wyoming Transportation Department Employees Association (WTDEA) recently awarded two Sheridan high school seniors Lainey Konetzki and Matthew Taylor scholarships.
Lainey Konetzki is the daughter of Larry and Lisa Konetzki. Her future plans include attending Sheridan College for General Studies and the Carpentry Apprenticeship. After that, she hopes to pursue a career in the equine industry, starting her own training and chiropractic business. She’s an active member of 4-H, FFA, and High School Rodeo, where she is Miss Wyoming High School Rodeo. She plans to continue to rodeo in the WPRA. Lainey’s father, Larry is WYDOT’s district four maintenance engineer. ....

Florida teens make history as the first female Eagle Scouts nationwide

Nearly 1,000 young women from across the country are taking their place in history as the first female Eagle Scouts after collectively earning more than 30,000 merit badges and providing an estimated 130,000 hours of community service, most notably during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Jack Sears, Boy Scouts of America North Florida Council’s scout executive and CEO, local and national award winners are among the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts. The commemoration of young women and their achievements is a call to action for all young people to continue working to make a positive impact on their communities and the nation. The trailblazing young women come from Anchorage to Miami, Honolulu to Boston, and parts of Asia and Europe where the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) serves American families living abroad. ....

ANN ARBOR, MI Percy Bates was a professor of educational psychology at the University of Michigan for 52 years, teaching students, advising student-athletes and supporting them in their efforts, no matter how big or small.
Even since retiring in 2018, Bates, 88, still gets messages from students thanking him for his help, and it’s those messages that make him realize exactly what education is all about. ....
