ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Interior Chairman Senator Abdul Rehman Malik urged for legislation on social media and to take strict legal action against those violating cyber laws of the country.
“While dealing with social media we should replicate the model of Saudi Arabia and UAE wherein all mediums of social media are in the control of government and even a single blasphemous word can’t be posted,” he said while talking to the newsmen after attending the meeting of the Senate Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication.
Rehman Malik said that even calls on WhatsApp and other social mediums are controlled in UEA and Saudi Arabia. He said that strict action should be taken against those who post and spread blasphemous, sectarian, offensive, and objectionable material. He expressed that no Muslim can bear blasphemous words about our beloved Prophet (PBUH). He said ....

ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Interior Chairman Senator Abdul Rehman Malik on Wednesday took notice of billions of rupees corruption by the oil marketing companies (OMCs), unearthed by FIA through its inquiry commission on oil crisis.
He has directed the Ministry of Interior to coordinate with FIA and all stakeholders for their comments on the multiple illegal acts in oil sector to point out the reasons for the failure of the authorities to protect the interest of the state and present a detailed report on it within seven days for discussion in the next meeting of the committee. ....

ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Interior Chairman Senator Abdul Rehman Malik has taken notice of the privatisation of Pakistan Medical Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and has sought a detailed report from secretary Ministry of Interior with comments from secretary Health and secretary Privatisation Commission.
He took the notice on the demand of protesting employees of PIMS, who claimed that they were not taken into confidence on the decision. In the notice, he has directed the secretary Interior and chief commissioner Islamabad to examine the circumstances and background for privatising a national health institution.
