The State government on Thursday submitted before the Kerala High Court that the statement of Sandeep Nair, one of the accused in the diplomatic gold smuggling and dollar smuggling cases, revealed shocking and startling facts about the criminal acts of the suspects in a case registered against the officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The submission was made by the counsel for the State government when the petitions filed by P. Radhakrishnan, Deputy Director, ED, Kochi, against the registration of two separate first information reports (FIRs) based on a complaint from Sandeep Nair and two women police officers came up for hearing. ....

KARACHI: The senior special secretary of Sindh Assembly has informed the Sindh High Court (SHC) that the appointments and promotions of assembly’s 11 officers were illegal, and in violation of the Supreme Court order.
The senior special secretary of Sindh Assembly, Muhammad Khan Rind, in his official reply, has acknowledged before the SHC that the appointments and promotions of 11 officers were illegal and in violation of the appointments and promotions rules of Sindh Assembly and also against the SC’s orders.
While replying to the SHC against a Constitutional petition, filed by the employees of Sindh Assembly challenging the appointments and promotions of Sindh Assembly officers, Rind said in compliance with the SHC’s orders, he had directed the additional secretary administration of SA and superintendent administration to submit the personal files of all appoint ....

Two Oyo officials in court for allegedly selling coronavirus palliatives

The Police, on Tuesday, arraigned two officials of Oyo State government before an Iwo-Road Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing and selling 40 bags of sugar from the state’s COVID-19 palliatives.
The defendants are a 50-year-old driver, Adebiyi Azeez, and Sunday Akinleye , a 43-year-old Assistant Protocol Officer in charge of palliatives at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Newsmen report that the defendants were charged alongside a trader, one Kafayat Babalola, for allegedly receiving and buying the stolen items.
The defendants are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen goods.
The Prosecutor, ASP Sunday Ogunremi, told the court that Adebiyi and Akinleye conspired to commit the offences. ....
