By Erica Thomas, managing editor SPRINGVILLE For some people, giving back feels better than getting something. The Springville High School Key Club is doing both. It is giving back to the community and to the nation but also receiving some recognition and representation. SHS sophomore Elaine Bryan was recently elected to serve as the 2021-2022 Alabama Key Club Secretary. Each division also has Lt. Governors. SHS student Mya Ownbey was elected as State Lt. Governor for Division 6 and SHS student Alanna Howard was elected State Lt. Governor for Division 5. The selections were made at the District Convention (DCON) for the Alabama District. Jack Wisdom from Auburn High School was elected Governor for the 2021-2022 school year. ....
Feb 13, 2021 With Valentine s Day approaching, the Fonda-Fultonville Central School Key Club wanted to let the residents at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam know that Valentine wishes were being sent their way. The High School Key Club members individually designed and crafted handmade Valentine s Day cards for each of the residents. Each of the 90 Valentine s Day cards were uniquely decorated and contained heartfelt wishes to the recipient to have a happy day. The Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility Activities Department was given the collection of these Valentine s Day cards to distribute due to the CDC guidelines preventing the Key Club members from actually visiting the residents. School staff members use jeans to help feed people Feed My People food bank benefitting from city school district s fundraiser Special to the Jeffersonian A hashtag or what non-Twitter users may call a slogan, Cambridge City School District started using this school year is #CambridgeCares. The hashtag was originally intended to let our students and families dealing with the pandemic know that the district cares about the health and well-being of each student. But its use is expanding to include all the acts of kindness that our students, teachers and staff engage in each and every day. This week has been designated as Jeans Week where teachers and staff are permitted to wear blue jeans each day if they contribute to Feed My People, a food bank in town that is struggling to stay in business. ....
