(RELEASE) - The Bureau of Land Management is encouraging the public to attend a virtual meeting to begin development of the adaptive management plan for non-eagle raptor timing limitation stipulation (TLS) relief within the Converse County Oil and Gas Project area. The virtual meeting will be held with the BLM, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department from 6-8 p.m. on March 25, 2021. CONVERSE COUNTY, WYO. After a seven-year environmental analysis, the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management has given authorization for year-round oil and gas drilling in Converse County, Wyoming.
The Converse County Oil and Gas Project allows for the development of up to 5,000 new oil and natural gas wells inside a 1.5 million-acre project area. This project is expected to generate roughly 8,000 jobs and $18 to $28 billion in federal revenues.
“Projects like this strengthen the energy independence of the United States while creating jobs and fostering economic development,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Casey Hammond. ....

DOUGLAS (WNE) After six years of sometimes controversial debating, studying and protracted periods of waiting, the Bureau of Land Management released its highly anticipated decision regarding the Converse County Oil & Gas Project with a resounding yes.
BLM’s signed and official Record of Decision on Dec. 23 allows the development of up to 500 new oil and natural gas wells per year within a 1.5 million-acre area in Converse County during the 10-year life of the project.
The proposed multi-company project’s initial letter of intent was filed in May 2014 by Occidental Petrol Corporation, Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Devon Energy, EOG Resources and Northwoods Energy. ....

CASPER – In a highly anticipated decision, the Bureau of Land Management approved a massive oil and gas project proposed in eastern Wyoming.
The federal agency issued a final record of decision on Wednesday, allowing five energy companies to extract federal minerals within the 1.5 million acre project area. The oil and gas companies will now be able to take the next steps in their plan to drill 5,000 wells in Converse County over the next several years.
The final environmental review, published in July, allowed for the construction of up to 5,000 wells, 1,500 miles of gas gathering pipe. ....
