MJSA Education Foundation Offering Scholarships

The MJSA Education Foundation, the nonprofit dedicated to advancing professional skills in jewelry-making and design, is accepting scholarship applications from students interested in pursuing careers in jewelry design, manufacture, or repair.
Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $2,500 and are open to U.S. students enrolled in a jewelry program, whether through a university or a trade school, who intend to pursue a career in the jewelry industry and can demonstrate financial need.
Applicants are assessed based on their course of study, academics, career plans, recommendations, and industry experience. The program is only open to U.S. citizens.

Atlanta, MJSA Readying Events This Year

A lot of jewelry shows have already been called off this year, including AGTA’s GemFair and the Independent Jewelers Organization’s February conference but some groups are saying their shows will go on.
The Atlanta Jewelry Show is still scheduled to be held March 6–7, 2021, at the Cobb Galleria Centre. This two-day event will be preceded by a full day of education, the ConnectED Pre-Show Conference, on March 5.
The show, titled the SoHo Experience by AJS (“SoHo” stands for “Southern Hospitality”), will include a space for the buying group Retail Jewelers Organization (RJO). This marks the first time the two groups have collaborated in this way. ....

Joseph Esposito Elected as MJSA Chair

National Chain Group’s Joseph Esposito (pictured) has been elected chair of the board of directors of the Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America (MJSA).
He succeeds Steven A. Cipolla, president of National Chain Group, who will now become chair of the MJSA Education Foundation. Cipolla had served as board chair since 2016.
Esposito, the executive vice president of National Chain Group, first came into the industry as an apprentice in 1979. In 1988, he formed Prime Time Manufacturing, where he served as president for nearly 20 years. Berkshire Hathaway–owned Richline Group purchased Prime Time in 2007.
Esposito ran Richline’s global manufacturing for 12 years before joining National Chain. ....
