ISLAMABAD: The PTI government claims that the data used by Transparency International (TI) for its 2020 global report on corruption is from the tenure of the PML-N government but even a cursory look at the report negates what the media czars of the regime are propagating.
According to the TI’s latest report, the following 13 data sources were used to construct the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2020:
1. African Development Bank Country Policy and Institutional Assessment 2018
2. Bertelsmann Stiftung Sustainable Governance Indicators 2020
3. Bertelsmann Stiftung Transformation Index 2020
4. Economist Intelligence Unit Country Risk Service 2020 ....

Pakistan loses four points on graft perception ranking - Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has been ranked 124 out of 180 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2020 released on Thursday by the Transparency International, as the country’s score has lowered to 31 from 32 out of 100 from the last year.
Pakistan’s ranking in 2019 was 120 among 180 countries and its rise to 124 indicates that the perception of corruption in the public sector has slightly worsened.
The country has also scored less than last year in two categories, Rule of Law Index and Varieties of Democracy, due to which Pakistan’s score in CPI 2020 has been reduced by one.
The questions asked by World Justice Project in connection with Rule of Law Index and Varieties of Democracy are about corruption of government officials viz. legislature, executive, judiciary, police and military, explained chairman of Pakistan chapter of Transparency International, Sohail Muzaffar. ....

Bangladesh has been ranked 146th having scored only 26 out of 100 in the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index 2020. It failed to improve both in terms of ranking and score from the previous year.
The country has been placed at the 12th spot from the bottom, two notches worse from the previous index.
The index has been a flagship research of TI, a Berlin-based global graft watchdog, since 1995. This year, the index has been prepared on 180 countries. There have been instances where more than one country secured the same spot as they scored the same. ....
