Mashantucket In a bid to hire more than 300 full- and part-time employees, Foxwoods Resort Casino is offering premium starting pay above the minimum wage and double time for overtime.
“With more adults become vaccinated and COVID-19 restrictions being relaxed across Connecticut, Foxwoods Resort Casino is excited to hire new team members to support resort demand,” the casino announced in a news release.
Foxwoods has brought back more than 3,000 employees since shutting down for 11 weeks following the pandemic outbreak in March 2020, and is looking to hire an additional 300-plus workers to fill openings in a variety of departments, including hotel operations, food-and-beverage and security. ....

Monkey Bar, a new outdoor bar and lounge serving cocktails and small bites, opened earlier this month at the Town and Country Resort in Mission Valley.
The new bar specializes in craft cocktails and Asian-inspired shareable plates, with items such as sticky short ribs, shrimp shu mai, lamb meatball, burger and wood-fired pizzas. Monkey Bar is hosting happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays with select $5 wine and beer, a $7 Drunken Monkey cocktail and $9 pizzas. Live music is presented from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays.

Connecticut to launch $150 million fund to help businesses

A new $150 million, multi-year initiative to invest in Connecticut businesses, with a major focus on fledgling small businesses located in communities hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, was unveiled on Thursday.
The Department of Economic and Community Development hopes the private sector will match that funding and co-invest in entrepreneurs, small businesses and start-ups, Commissioner David Lehman said.
“We think there’s a real opportunity to make this initiative even larger and have the state drive it, but with a significant amount of co-investment capital from corporations and philanthropists,” Lehman said. ....
