The National Library’s
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy 2013–2018 is a commitment to improving employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. The Strategy offers the Library opportunities to be enriched by Indigenous cultures, peoples and knowledge from across Australia and locally within the Australian Capital Territory.
We acknowledge the Ngunnawal people, the traditional custodians of the land the Library is placed on, and acknowledge and welcome other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to our Strategy for building greater workforce engagement.

Advertising Council Australia launches inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan

Advertising Council Australia has today launched its inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), the first ever RAP for the Australian advertising industry.
 
Today’s launch follows the RAP’s formal endorsement by Reconciliation Australia, and is being marked with a special webinar for ACA members.
Says Laura Aldington, chair of ACA’s RAP Committee, ACA Board member and CEO of Host Havas: “We are very pleased to be launching Advertising Council Australia’s inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan today. This launch is significant because we believe it is a missed opportunity that an industry built on the power of creativity has not yet embraced the oldest, most creative, artistic, storytelling culture on this planet. It’s an injustice we’re excited to take steps towards addressing.” ....

AWARD School welcomes 211 aspiring creatives for 2021 including five Indigenous scholars

A total of 211 aspiring creatives have been accepted into AWARD School 2021, with five Indigenous Scholarships awarded as part of this year’s student intake.
 
This year’s total acceptances were drawn from 460 applications received nationally, and is an increase over last year when 192 students were accepted.
Says AWARD School joint national heads Mandie van der Merwe and Jack Nunn: “Huge congratulations to everyone about to enter AWARD School 2021 – your responses to the application brief showed great creative thinking. And now the hard work really begins.
“As we go into the third year of our Indigenous Scholarship programme we’re also thrilled to welcome five scholars in 2021 who we know are going to shine.” ....
