The Suicide Squad has earned its R-rating, with the US Motion Picture Association reeling off an impressive list of adult content as part of its decision.
Director James Gunn had already confirmed the Worlds of DC title s rating earlier this year, but now the MPA has revealed exactly why the restricted rating was handed down.
The association s explanation references strong violence and gore, language throughout, some sexual references, [and] drug use , which isn t altogether surprising. The one curveball, perhaps, is reference to brief graphic nudity . ....

For many stuck inside during lockdown, streaming services have kept the movie-going experience alive - offering a safe alternative while cinemas remain shut.
But film director Martin Scorsese isn t such a fan. In an essay for Harper s magazine, he s warned that cinema is being devalued. demeaned and reduced by being thrown under the umbrella term content .
He specifically criticised a lack of curation on streaming platforms, saying algorithms, which provide recommendations based on individual or collective viewing habits, are damaging the art form and treat the viewer as a consumer and nothing else . ....

It was quite surprising to see Malaysia, a country where genre literature and films are often censored or outright banned, announce a low-budget supernatural horror movie as its official submission for the best international film category at the next Academy Awards.
Roh (2019), which translates as Soul , is the debut feature of Kuala Lumpur-based film director Emir Ezwan. His clever short film RM10 (2016), which follows the journey of a 10 Malaysian ringgit banknote as it changes hands on a sultry Kuala Lumpur night, won the Festival Filem Malaysia’s best short film award in 2016. ....
