Indian River board discusses proposed solar project

PHILADELPHIA â US Light Energy provided a presentation to the Indian River Board of Education recently regarding a proposed PILOT, payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement, for a community solar facility it is building for the benefit of the Tri-County Energy Cooperative.
On Thursday night, during its regularly scheduled meeting, the board discussed the proposal and questions it would like answered before a decision is made.
In 2017, US Light Energy was selected to construct eight megawatts of solar generating capacity for the benefit of the Tri-County Energy Cooperative and its 29 school district and municipal members. A megawatt is a unit of electrical power equal to one million watts. ....

ANCA board adds real estate risk manager David Heidecorn | News, Sports, Jobs

SARANAC LAKE The Adirondack North Country Association has announced the addition of David Heidecorn to its 25-member board of directors.
Heidecorn is a senior advisor to L. Catterton Real Estate, a Luxembourg-based wing of the L. Catterton global investment firm based in Connecticut. He lives in Westchester County and spends time at his new home in Lake Placid.
“In my mind, David’s involvement reinforces the value of having skilled, thoughtful people who bring diverse perspectives to our board,” ANCA Executive Director Kate Fish said in a press release.
Heidecorn was elected by the ANCA board at its quarterly meeting in December 2020. He joins the economic development nonprofit group, based in Saranac Lake, as it tackles issues such as the economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, local food system resilience, a transition to a clean energy economy, and the creation and retention of new and existing businesses in the r ....

Canton planning board to hear concerns over solar farm project at Tuesday meeting

CANTON – Site plans for a large commercial solar farm proposed for 161 Meade Road will again come before the town planning board when they convene on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom.
Pam and Jim Rose, the landowners who live adjacent to the site and who own the right-of-way across their property into agricultural land slated for the solar operation, are planning to attend the public meeting to voice concerns they have about the project.
U.S. Light Energy is planning to construct a 5 MW solar farm on a 33-acre lot of primarily agricultural land, with about two acres of woodland and some wetlands, leased from Brian Brewer. ....
