Video shows vehicle crash into Texaco gas pump in Auburn; 1 person hurt

One person was hurt Tuesday after a vehicle drove through a stop sign and hit a gas pump in Auburn, according to the California Highway Patrol.Officials said an elderly woman was getting off Interstate 80 at Lincoln Way in Auburn around 11 a.m., when she plowed through a stop sign, went through an intersection and took out a Texaco gas pump.The gas pump automatically shut off after the collision, officials said. The gas station itself was not hit.CHP said the woman had minor injuries after the crash.Traffic on Lincoln Way was not affected by the incident.Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the crash, CHP said. ....

A 25-year-old man was arrested on Monday after CHP officers say he was seen sitting in the backseat of a Tesla as it drove across the Bay Bridge without anyone in the driver s seat.CHP/
A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving after riding in the back seat of a Tesla as it drove on the freeway without anyone in the driver’s seat on Monday, the California Highway Patrol said Tuesday.
In addition to two charges of reckless driving, the man, Param Sharma, was also charged with disobeying a peace officer, according to a statement from CHP. Sharma was arrested without incident and booked into the Santa Rita Jail, and the Tesla was towed. ....

The man popped up on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and since his behavior merited it, he was quickly featured on Reddit as well, but no on the kind of subreddits you d want to have your name associated with. What the man later identified as Param Sharma did was travel in his Tesla Model 3 electric sedan while lounging in the backseat, sometimes using his feet to provide input to the steering wheel, sometimes just enjoying the passing scenery without even bothering to do that.
His antics didn t go unnoticed by the people sharing the road with him, and if Tesla refuses to crack down on this kind of behavior more violently, then the public had to take matters into their own hands. So, presumably infuriated by Sharma s recklessness and rightfully fearing for their wellbeing and that of others, drivers started alerting the police. ....
