Whether we re creating order out of chaos or just embracing it, the arts tend to flourish in times of turbulence. Although that push and pull is always at play in our minds and souls, rarely has the ethical and ideological tug of war outside ourselves seemed so immediate, so omnipresent. That so many of us can find inspiration or even beauty within that maelstrom is a testament to the human spirit indeed.
The 98th Annual Spring Show at the Erie Art Museum is a regional showcase of creative magnificence amongst all the madness, featuring 92 pieces by 67 artists across a range of media and disciplines. As always, a juror from outside the region was chosen to curate the exhibit this year s being American artist, ceramicist, social activist, spoken word poet, and educator Roberto Lugo. THE water crisis in St Vincent is reaching a level where some people are struggling to get potable water to cook with and drink.

Students attending Shippensburg or any of the other 13 state universities next year will pay the same tuition and technology fee that first-year students two years ago paid.

For the third consecutive year, Pennsylvania’s 14 state-owned universities are holding the line on tuition.
The State System of Higher Education’s governing board voted unanimously on Thursday to freeze tuition and the systemwide technology fee at the 2019-20 levels.
Despite the financial woes facing the state universities prompting some radical changes and pleas from university presidents for at least a 1% increase, the board’s decision will mean students will pay the same amount in tuition next fall as upperclassmen paid this year and last year. ....

State System to freeze tuition at public universities for third straight year


The State System of Higher Education will freeze tuition at state-owned universities, including California University of Pennsylvania, for the third consecutive year.
The decision reached Thursday by the system’s board of governors reflected its commitment to keeping the cost of college affordable during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, said system spokesman David Pidgeon.
“Students deserve our full support as they continue focusing on attaining a degree through the pandemic,” said Cindy Shapira, chairwoman of the board.
It’s the first time in the state system’s history that tuition has been frozen for three consecutive years.
The yearly cost of tuition will remain at $7,716 for the 2021-22 term for the nearly 93,000 Pennsylvania students who are enrolled at the 14 state universities. ....
