This week in 1917, the Hillsboro Gazette reported that an 87-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman from the area who wanted to get married had to obtain their marriage license in Kentucky due to pending court proceedings here. Percy Jackson author to graduate from UCC Updated / Monday, 15 Mar 2021 09:47 The best selling author of the Percy Jackson fantasy book and film series, Rick Riordan, will be among around 1,100 students graduating from University College Cork this afternoon. The Boston-based author undertook his studies online, and will be awarded a Masters in Gaelic Literature from the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Studies. Mr Riordan said he chose the course in the hope that Irish legends may inspire his next bestseller. Before I turned to Irish myth, I wanted to be sure I had done as much research as possible, even though I know the stories fairly well. The Daily Herald Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles has long opposed mandates requiring Tennesseans to wear a face covering in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Ogles repeatedly stated that a mandate would “infringe” on the freedom of the state’s residents, arguing that the requirement would be unconstitutional without its implementation as a law by the state legislature. Alongside the county s fellow Republican leaders, Ogles has also repeatedly shared the viewpoint that regulations set in place in an effort to quell the spread of the virus have dramatically impeded on the state s economy. As part of his ongoing effort to oppose a statewide mask mandate, and to build his own base of followers, the county s elected chief executive has formed a private Facebook group named Andy’s Army TN. ....
