Carlyle Cardinal Ireland (CCI) has agreed the sale of Carroll Cuisine to Eight Fifty Food Group, the multi-protein food group owned by CapVest Partners LLP (CapVest), an international private equity investor. The acquisition, terms of which are not being disclosed, is expected to complete during the first quarter of 2021. Tullamore-headquartered Carroll Cuisine produces and distributes branded and private-label cooked meats, deli hams, chilled ready meals and other chilled food products to supermarkets and convenience stores throughout Ireland. ....
Eight Fifty Food Group, a company in the CapVest private equity portfolio, has agreed to acquire Carroll s Cuisine, the Tullamore-based ham maker, for an undisclosed sum. The deal is the fourth for Eight Fifty since the pork-and-seafood company formed in 2019 with the merger of Northern Ireland s Karro Food Group and Young s Seafood, the UK s biggest specialist seafood brand. Eight Fifty is buying the Co Offaly business from Carlyle Cardinal Ireland (CCI), a joint venture between Cardinal Capital and the Carlyle Group with a diverse portfolio of corporate and real estate interests. Tullamore-based ham producer Carrollâs Cuisine has been acquired by Eight Fifty Food Group, a UK company controlled by private equity firm CapVest Partners. The business was sold by Carlyle Cardinal Ireland (CCI) for an undisclosed sum. CCI had acquired the company in 2015 for â¬37.3 million and is believed to have made a return on its investment. Carrollâs produces a range of cooked meats and convenience food, and employs 325 people at its site in Co Offaly. Its turnover has increased by 50 per cent over the past five years, driven by investment in manufacturing capacity, innovation and new product development. The company is to be integrated into Eight Fiftyâs pork division and will expand its presence in the Republic following the acquisition of M&M Walshe in June 2020. ....
