BOA and UK Sport offer tentative support after Khan Olympic bid suggestion

UK Sport and the British Olympic Association (BOA) have offered tentative support towards exploring a potential bid for a future Olympic and Paralympic Games but say no talks have been held to date, after Sadiq Khan vowed to establish an exploratory committee after winning a second term as London Mayor.
Khan made the pledge on Tuesday (May 4) with voting closing in the London Mayoral election two days later.
He claimed a Games would create thousands of new jobs, boost tourism and solidify London as the sporting capital of the world.
Khan said leading figures would form part of an exploratory committee and claimed the Games could be the most sustainable edition to date, utilising existing venues from London 2012. ....

Coates says Brisbane 2032 on last lap as IOC starts due diligence prior to award

Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) President John Coates says Brisbane 2032 is on the final lap, with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) conducting due diligence ahead of confirming the city as host of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Coates made the comments during his address to AOC members at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting today.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced Brisbane as its preferred bidder for the 2032 Games in March.
The project took its latest step forward in April when Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison pledged the Federal Government will cover half the costs, adding contributions from state and local Governments. ....

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has said he will explore a bid for the 2036 or 2040 Olympic and Paralympic Games should he be re-elected on Thursday (May 6).
Khan is seeking a second term as London Mayor, with recent polls suggesting the Labour Party politician is the clear favourite to win the election.
He said hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games could create thousands of new jobs, boost tourism and solidify London as the sporting capital of the world .

The IOC Session today praised the achievements of Olympic Agenda 2020, the strategic roadmap for the IOC and the Olympic Movement. Following the review of the Closing Report on Olympic Agenda 2020, the IOC Members approved it unanimously.
Adopted by the IOC at its 127th Session in Monaco in December 2014, Olympic Agenda 2020 is a set of 40 detailed recommendations whose overarching goal was to safeguard the Olympic values and strengthen the role of sport in society.
