Epping Town Council opposes Station Road six-flat plan

Plans to add a third storey to a building in Station Road, Epping,​ ​to enable a development of six one-bedroom flats are being opposed by the town council.
Councillors have objected saying the proposed development at Purlieu House at 11 Station Road is overbearing and overdominant .
A planning application submitted to Epping Forest District Council is seeking consent to add a third floor and turn existing office space on the ground floor to retail use. ....

Epping Forest council defends purchase of two drones | Epping Forest Guardian


It is five years ago this week since a council moved to reassure residents after buying two drones.
Epping Forest District Council has defended its decision to buy two drones after accusations that they could be used for “snooping” on members of the public.
“We will not be looking into peoples (sic) back gardens,” the district council said today (April 13) as it claimed the unmanned aerial vehicles will save money and help protect the environment.
The purchase of two DJI Phantom 3 drones for £5,000 was agreed on January 11, with the budget including Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approved training for staff.
The money came from the council’s ‘invest to save’ scheme, and it is hoped the appliances can be loaned out to other local authorities and public bodies. ....

Epping Forest's condolences following death of Prince Philip


The Duke of Edinburgh passed away aged 99 at Windsor Castle on Friday morning.
Books of Condolences have been opened at Buckhurst Hill Library and North Weald Village Hall.
After the period set by protocol, the books will be closed, and a copy will be printed and retained for historic purposes, with a copy passed to the Essex Records Office.
Cllr Helen Kane, chairman of Epping Forest District Council has also written on behalf of the Epping Forest district to the Private Secretary to the Duke of Edinburgh to express condolences to Her Majesty and other members of the Royal Family. ....

Flags across Epping Forest are flying at half-mast in respect of the Duke of Edinburgh who has passed away aged 99.
Buckingham Palace announced just after midday on Friday that Prince Philip, husband of the Queen, had died peacefully at Windsor Castle earlier in the day.
The Duke, who had recently spent one month in hospital, was two months away from celebrating his 100th birthday.
In light of his death, tributes have come in from around the world with the Commonwealth mourning the loss of the royal.
Wellwishers flocked to Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle to play flowers - although the Royal Family has urged people to consider donating to a charity of their choice rather than gather at memorials, due to the ongoing coronavirus regulations. ....
