COVID-19 vaccine roll out continues for Epworth frontline employees

Frontline Epworth HealthCare workers across our Melbourne hospitals have begun receiving their COVID-19 vaccination.
More than 800 Epworth employees and doctors will be vaccinated in the initial group of 1A frontline healthcare workers, including staff in our emergency departments at Epworth Richmond and Epworth Geelong and across our intensive care units.
Epworth Richmond ED nurse Bronwyn Potton is among those to be vaccinated recently at a health vaccination hub managed by St Vincent’s Hospital.
Ms Potton urges everyone to consider being vaccinated.
“The COVID-19 vaccines in Australia have passed strict tests by the Therapeutic Goods Administration, which means they are safe and effective.” ....

COVID vaccine rolls out to Epworth frontline staff

Frontline Epworth HealthCare workers have begun receiving the COVID-19 vaccination.
Epworth Geelong Emergency Department Director Matt Ryan was among the first in Victoria to be vaccinated on day one of the rollout.
Dr Ryan said 264 staff and doctors from Epworth Geelong and Epworth Medical Imaging are in the initial round of 1A frontline healthcare workers to receive the vaccination at a Barwon Health vaccination hub.
“Vaccinating our Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and Epworth Medical Imaging teams will help keep patients, staff, doctors and their families as well as the community safe,” Dr Ryan said.
“We know the COVID-19 vaccine approved for use in Australia will be safe and effective so I didn’t hesitate to receive it when it was available. I would urge everyone to consider being vaccinated.” ....

Geelong Future Economy Precinct nears finish line
The Geelong Future Economy Precinct at Waurn Ponds is now a step closer to completion with the last remaining tender awarded to Keystone Civil to construct the Epworth Place extension.
The final stages of the project will extend Epworth Place to provide new alternative entrance points to the Geelong Future Economy Precinct.
Part of the $382 million Geelong City Deal, the project will support future growth in traffic volumes, provide a safer, more efficient truck route, and support the future growth of advanced manufacturers.
The Geelong Future Economy Precinct houses Deakin University, a medical teaching and research hospital owned by the Australian private health provider Epworth Healthcare, and the agribusiness and equine college Marcus Oldham College. ....

Man Jailed for Seriously Injuring Woman
An Epworth man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman, causing some serious facial injuries.
The incident happened at about 3am on January 10th, at a residence in the 100 block of West 2nd Street and Main Street in Dubuque.
32 year old Kevin McGovern is accused of violently assaulting Aleca Lombardi; she was treated for 5 nose fractures and several skull fractures.
McGovern was arrested Monday (Jan. 18) at about 11pm at a residence on 1st Street NE in Epworth. He is being charged with Willful Injury-Bodily Injury.
Since Aleca Lombardi will be off work to recover from needed reconstructive surgery, a GoFundMe account has been set up, with the funds to assist Lombardi with financial help that she will need for herself, and for her children. ....
