ODU finishes campus memorial dedicated to Virginia Beach mass shooting victims
After breaking ground in October 2019, ODU said it finally put the finishing touches on its Virginia Beach Monarch Memorial on campus.

NORFOLK, Va. Sitting in the middle of ODU s campus, families and friends of the victims, as well as students, will now find a special memorial dedicated to the victims of the 2019 Virginia Beach mass shooting.
The memorial is located at Bugg Plaza, between the Batten Arts and Letters Building and Perry Libraries. It s tucked into a small garden area with benches for people to sit. ....

The University of Reading has paid tribute to His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who died on 9 April and whose funeral is tomorrow (17 April).
Extending condolences on behalf of the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Robert Van de Noort, paid tribute to the Duke, who was an Honorary Graduate of the University and Honorary Life Member of Reading University Students’ Union.
Professor Van de Noort said: “The thoughts of the students, colleagues and community of the University of Reading are with Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family as they mourn the death of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. ....

Tobacco heiress Doris Duke fell in love with Islamic culture and art on her round-the world honeymoon. Stopping in Honolulu on her way home, Duke decided to house her collection here, in an Islamic style setting on Diamond Head. After Duke s death, her collection and home opened to the public as the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture, and Design.
Leslee Michelsen is Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at Shangri La. While the museum is closed, you can find exhibitions and resources online, included its new 8 x 8 exhibition showcasing Hawaii artists.

The focus of Hawai’i Contemporary’s Art Summit is to introduce themes curators are working through for the Honolulu Triennial in 2022. Those concerns include climate change, income disparity, racism, gun violence, the whole gamut of contemporary concerns are examined through art. ....
