Irish Grand National winner's prize up for auction at Lawrences, Somerset


LAWRENCES’ in Crewkerne is busy getting their salerooms ready for their Summer Fine Art auction next week, which comprises more than 2,200 lots, with a sale every day of the week.
Kicking off the series on Monday (July 19) is the Decorative Arts, Ceramics and Oriental section. Included in this sale is a private collection of studio pottery and contemporary glass, collected by a couple in South Somerset.
It includes two pottery vessels by world renowned potter Dame Magdalene Odundo, one of the world’s most valuable living ceramic artists whose pieces have made over £200,000.

Within the silver selection on Tuesday, there is a rare Elizabeth I Silver Steeple Cup. The first owner of this magnificent silver antique was John Walton, the Archdeacon of Derby from 1590-1603, whose name appears on the foot.

Keeneland today announced that internationally respected bloodstock adviser and consignor Tony Lacy will join the company as Vice President of Sales. Officials also announced that longtime Director of Sales Operations Geoffrey Russell will retire from his full-time position after 25 years with Keeneland, but will remain in a consulting role through 2021.
