A lack of mutual trust and armed clashes are not conducive to stability, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a daily briefing.
MOSCOW, May 17 (Xinhua) Uncontrollable escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can pose a serious threat to the fragile security system of the region, the Kremlin said Monday.
A lack of mutual trust and armed clashes are not conducive to stability, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a daily briefing.
Major efforts are now being made by the (Middle East) Quartet, and countries are in contact with both the Israelis and Palestinians through bilateral channels to stop the exchange of strikes, he said. ....

Before March 2020, the number of abortions in conservative Northern Ireland in a given year consistently stayed in the double digits. Women could get legal abortions only if the pregnancy put their lives at risk or posed serious threat to their physical health. But the U.K. Parliament in October 2019 voted
to force Northern Ireland to legalize the procedure. The regulations officially passed on March 31, 2020.
Since then, staff at pro-life medical centers noticed an increase in women coming to them for help. They saw women coming out of healthcare facilities carrying their little brown bags of abortion pills. By March 2021, the region’s Department of Health announced that 1,345 abortions had taken place the previous year eve ....

UNITED NATIONS, May 17 (Xinhua) United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday called for continued international support for Sudan, which undergoes a historic political and economic transformation.
We have a responsibility to help Sudan consolidate its democratic transition. Rebuild its economy. And deliver sustainable peace and development for all its diverse society, the UN chief said in a video message to the International Conference to Support the Sudanese Transition.
The conference, organized by French President Emmanuel Macron, aimed to encourage private investors to return to Sudan as it continues to emerge from three decades of isolation and rebuild its shattered economy. ....
