Voting Now Open for UK Staff Senate and UK Women's Forum


LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 10, 2021) 
 Voting for University of Kentucky Staff Senate and the UK Women’s Forum is open now through 5 p.m. Friday, May 21. 
Candidates for Staff Senate are running for three-year terms beginning July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2024. Voting for Staff Senate is open to all UK staff who are 0.50 time equivalent or greater.
Candidates for the Women’s Forum are running for two-year terms beginning June 16, 2021. Voting for Women’s Forum is open to all regular staff and faculty who are 0.75 equivalent or greater. University faculty and staff interested in becoming a general member of the UK Women’s forum can access membership information here. ....

 The University of Kentucky Staff Senate and Women’s Forum are collaborating to promote
Infertility issues affect 1 in 8 couples (2006–2010 National Survey of Family Growth, CDC). Created by RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association,
 National Infertility Awareness Week seeks to raise awareness about the importance of empowering people in their journey and changing the conversation around infertility.

 Check in with your emotional well-being this month with two programs from the University of Kentucky Women’s Forum. Mental health is the theme for the April professional development session and monthly “Coffee and Connect” programming. Don’t miss these final opportunities for professional development with the Women’s Forum this semester!
On Tuesday, April 20, from 11 a.m.–noon (on Zoom), Ann Bassoni, mental health counselor with the UK Office of Work-Life, will present “Emotional Well-Being During a Pandemic.” In this session, the discussion will focus on the challenges individuals and families are facing and how these have changed during the course of COVID-19. But why stop with identifying the challenges? Come up with your own emotional well-being plan while discussing various ways to check your emotional health and make adjustments as needed.  ....

UK Women's Forum Announces 2021 Sarah Bennett Holmes Awardees

 Four outstanding recipients who profoundly contribute to issues that affect women at the University of Kentucky and across the Commonwealth received the Sarah Bennett Holmes Award Tuesday, March 23, during a virtual awards ceremony. Christina Walker, staff winner; Hana Khamfroush, faculty winner; Mel Lesch, graduate student winner; and UK Department of Neurology s Wellness and Resiliency Committee, team winner, received the 2021 Sarah Bennett Holmes Award.
The award historically recognizes one female faculty member and one female staff member who promote growth and well-being of women at the university and across Kentucky. The UK Women’s Forum decided to expand the award criteria to allow UK faculty and staff of any gender to be eligible plus created a team award and graduate student award. The faculty, staff and graduate student recipients receive a monetary award plus a plaque. The team and its members receive a plaque for their achievement. ....
