Today’s obits: Patricia Waelder was a Syracuse teacher, city councilor, school board president Updated Mar 10, 2021; Facebook Share Patricia Kelly Waelder, 92, died last Wednesday at her home. Born in Rochester, she grew up in New York City and moved to the Valley section of Syracuse in 1957, according to her obituary. She graduated from Fordham University and Syracuse University and began her career as an educator in the parochial schools K-8 of the Diocese of Syracuse. She later transitioned to teaching in the Syracuse City adult education program and also taught courses at University College. In 1975, she accepted a position in the English department at Onondaga Community College. She was a professor of English and reading. She retired as acting dean of arts, humanities and social sciences in 1997.
