One year after the original opening, the Tokyo Olympic Games will be held on July 23, and the three-and-a-half-hour opening ceremony officially kicked off.
The event held at the National Stadium in the Japanese capital aims to celebrate the world’s “diversity unity” and provide encouragement to more than 11,000 athletes who will participate in the Olympics, most of whom have no crowds to cheer for them.
After participating in a journey of approximately 10,000 runners across 47 prefectures in Japan, the Olympic flame will be the centerpiece of the ceremony.
“Our goal is to show human affirmation and hope for the future,” said Shintaro Hirano, the choreographer director. ....
