A Catholic priest who delivered the funeral homily for Massachusetts Senator Edward M. Kennedy in 2009 has been indicted on charges alleging rape and indecent assault of a minor.
A Barnstable Superior Court grand jury on Friday indicted the Rev. Mark R. Hession, 62, on two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and battery of a person under 14, and one count of witness intimidation, court records show.
An arraignment date will be set in January, a spokesperson for the Cape and Islands district attorneyâs office said. It wasnât clear who was representing Hession, and information on the dates and locations of the alleged rapes and assault wasnât immediately available. ....

Deborah Ann Rose Diggs Jackson was born on May 5, 1932 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is an only child of Alyce Lillian Booker and Chester L. Rose. Deborah’s parents divorced when she was a child, which meant that she lived between her two homes: West Medford, Massachusetts with her mother Alyce and the Booker Family, and in Roxbury, Massachusetts with her father Chester’s parents and the Rose Family. She died peacefully at her home in Osterville surrounded by her family on Dec. 1, 2020 at the age of 88.
Deborah graduated from high school in Roxbury, Massachusetts and, like most young ladies of her day, continued her education in secretarial school intending to prepare for her future. But in 1954, Deborah married George R. Diggs an Army Career Soldier.
