A suspect in the shooting death of a Colbert man early Monday was charged with murder about 16 hours after officers responded to the crime scene, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s investigators identified Deshun Kevon Turner, 24, as the man who shot and killed Fredrick Appling, 53, in front of Appling’s home on Farm Road. Turner was charged with felony murder, but investigators were consulting with the district attorney’s office Tuesday about the wording of the warrant, Capt. Jimmy Patton said Tuesday. As for the relationship between the suspect and victim, Patton described them as “general acquaintances.” ....
Survey indicates tornadoes in Walton, Oglethorpe counties on Monday By FOX 5 Atlanta Digital Team Published ATLANTA - Monday s total tornado count in Georgia is up to four after the National Weather Service confirmed two EF-0 tornados touched down in Oglethorpe and Walton counties on Monday. This update comes after the National Weather Service said slightly stronger EF-1 tornadoes were confirmed in Douglas and Fulton counties. The Walton County tornado lasted less than three minutes, according to a survey, and landed in a rural area. It was approximately the width of two football fields. Officials estimate winds peaked at 85 mph and life near Ike Stone Road and Mt. Vernon Road. ....
Vaccine administered - Pfizer, both doses I went to the Habersham County mass vaccine site for both doses. I signed up on the MyVaccineGeorgia website, which was super easy. The hardest part was figuring out with the two friends I went with what time worked for all of us. The mass sites are drive-through, so we didn t have to leave the car and just brought the QR codes from our online registrations. We went through, then waited in the parking lot for 20-30 minutes in case of any immediate side effects. The site was a lot busier for our first doses, so it took maybe half an hour or 45 minutes to go through. For the second it was much quicker, about 15 minutes from the time we got to the site to the time we got to the parking lot after getting the vaccines. ....
