Buckeyes to Face Penn State in Big Ten Tournament Opener

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced the 2020-21 Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament bracket Sunday, with Indiana earning the No. 1 seed after securing the Big Ten Championship on Friday. The Big Ten Tournament begins on Saturday, April 10, at campus sites.
As the No. 1 seed, Indiana (7-1-0 Big Ten) will host No. 8 seed Northwestern (2-7-1) on Saturday in quarterfinal action. Northwestern and Wisconsin tied for eighth place with identical 2-7-1 records, however Northwestern earned the No. 8 seed based on its 1-0-1 record against the Badgers this season.
Penn State earned the No. 2 seed (6-1-1 Big Ten) and will play host to No. 7 seed Ohio State (3-5-1) on Saturday, while No. 3 seed Michigan (5-3-1) will welcome No. 6 seed Michigan State (4-6-0) to An Arbor, and No. 4 seed Maryland (4-3-1) will host No. 5 seed Rutgers (4-4-0). ....

Fun Day at the Ballpark! Buckeyes Sweep Indiana

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s pitchers ruled the day as the Buckeye collected 28 strikeouts and limited league-leading Indiana to just two runs in a double-header sweep on Saturday afternoon at Bill Davis Stadium.
The Buckeyes (11-7) won game one 6-0 behind a 17-strikeout, complete game shutout from Seth Lonsway. In the night cap, the combo of Jack Neely, Griffan Smith and TJ Brock combined for 11 strikeouts and held IU to just two runs in a 5-2 victory.
At the plate, Zach Dezenzo, Mitchell Okuley and Kade Kern each had two hits. Dezenzo’s two hits both were solo home runs in the first inning of each game to get the Buckeyes jump-started. Conner Pohl also had a home run on the day. ....

A Buckeye is Headed to Tokyo!! Three are in the US Olympic Trial Finals

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Friday at the USA Wrestling Olympic Team Trials was a long day of wrestling, but it was a good day of wrestling for former Buckeyes Kollin Moore and Joey McKenna. Moore and McKenna are both set to appear in the Olympic Team Trial finals on Saturday, vying for a spot in this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Moore is in the finals of the 97 kg weight class and waiting for him is the reigning Olympic champion and fellow Buckeye Kyle Snyder. That means Ohio State will have at least one Olympian this summer. McKenna will square-off with Jordan Oliver in the finals of the 65 kg class. The winner of that weight class will still have to qualify the weight for the Olympics at the World Olympic Qualifier in Sofia, Bulgaria, May 6-9. ....

This week, the trial of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd began. I want to acknowledge that the trial may bring renewed pain and trauma for many, especially among Black people and people of color in our community.
