May 3 The last day of school for Middle Georgia students is less than a month away, and summertime brings with it many fun activities for kids.
Although many summer camps were canceled or moved to a virtual format in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, several summer camps are planned for the 2021 summer.
Jennifer Hoffman, an infectious disease physician with Coliseum Health, said each parent or guardian has to contemplate multiple factors when considering whether or not to send their child to a summer camp while the pandemic remains ongoing. ....

The Black American Music Association (BAM) was founded by veteran music executives Michael Mauldin and Demmette Guidry with a mission to preserve, protect, and promote the legacy and the future of authentic Black American music as an indigenous art form. BAM provides music industry professionals, creators, scholars, and music industry stakeholders with opportunities that will help empower future generations through professional training, education, preservation, financial literacy and advocacy.

Macon's music scene is making a buzz; Macon Mercer Symphony coming in Fall

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) According to Mercer University and Peyton Anderson Foundation, a world class orchestra is coming to Macon this fall.
It will be called the Macon Mercer Symphony, and the group will include Robert McDuffie Center for Strings. Organizers will have 13 members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra come to mentor the center’s students. 
“In my opinion it will be the best orchestra in the country,” said founder of Mercer’s McDuffie Center for Strings Robert McDuffie. 
The Macon native says after becoming a world renowned violist, it’s time to pay it forward to Macon’s music community and Macon music legends. ....

15.   Normalcy sought after record homicides
After the record number of homicides eclipsed 50 in 2020, Bibb County Sheriff David Davis is looking forward to the new year.
“Some of those underlying conditions – COVID, lockdowns and uneasiness created kind of a tragic situation here locally but we hope to get normalcy back,” Davis said. “We’re seeing strange behaviors all across the country.”
Shortly after the first of the year, Davis will announce promotions for his staff which he said has been “doing a good job” with the resources and manpower available. ....
