Amotekun Should Operate Within Ambit Of The Law – Owoseni

The Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor, Fatai Owoseni has asked operatives of the State Security Network, codenamed Operation Amotekun, to operate within the ambit of the law.
Owoseni made this call on Friday during an interview on Channels Television’s
Sunrise Daily.
“The Oyo State Security Network, Amotekun started its operations about six weeks ago. Something gets back to it; it’s a creation of the law. They are supposed to operate within the ambit of the law that created them,” he said.
The governor’s aide, who is also a former Commissioner of Police in Lagos, said the creation of the security outfit was set up to handle security issues. ....

A former Director of Military Intelligence and leader of Oyo State Security Network popularly called Amotekun, General Kunle Togun has raised the alarm, saying heavily armed herdsmen are currently invading the state.
Togunwho is a retired General alleged that fully armed Fulani herders are trooping into the state from foreign lands through Saki East, Saki West and Atiba Local Government Areas.
Togun who was a Special Guest at Yoruba World Assembly, YWA’s first traditional security summit held at the old House of Chiefs, Parliament Buildings Secretariat in Ibadan couldn’t attend the function because of his commitment to curbing the influx of the foreigners. ....

Why our formations rejected suspects from Amotekun corps —Oyo Police

The Oyo State Police Command on Tuesday gave reasons why it rejected armed robbery suspects brought to it by the Oyo State Security Network, also known as Amotekun.
The spokesman of the command, Olugbenga Fadeyi qouted the state Commissioner of Police, Nwachukwu Enwonwu in a statement on Tuesday as explaining that it was not true that the police were not cooperating with Amotekun, but had to work in accordance to its jurisdiction sensitivity.
According to the CP, the Amotekun operatives took the suspects to divisions other than where the alleged crime was committed and that they were presented in bad shape. ....
