Veteran lightweight Clay Guida will look to hand Olympic silver medalist Mark O. Madsen the first loss of his career when they clash at an upcoming UFC event on Aug. 21.
Multiple sources confirmed to MMA Fighting that verbal agreements are in place for the matchup, although bout agreements have not been signed just yet. The bout was first confirmed by Danish outlet ViaRitzau on Wednesday.
Undefeated thus far in his mixed martial arts career, Madsen currently holds a 2-0 resume in the UFC after picking up wins over Danilo Belluardo and Austin Hubbard. His last win over Hubbard in March 2020 came at the cost of a broken jaw, which obviously kept him sidelined for several months after the event. ....

The last two years of Donald Cerrone’s career have been on a decline. After four straight losses from beginning in mid-2019, his last fight with Niko Price last September ended in a disappointing draw.
Next to Joe Lauzon, Nate Diaz, and Jim Miller, “Cowboy” is one of the UFC’s last remaining OGs. But given his recent skid, UFC president Dana White intended to have a conversation with him about possibly hanging it up.

The middleweight tournament winner on the first-ever The Ultimate Fighter has been released by the UFC amid a bizarre set of circumstances.
Diego Sanchez was released Tuesday and his May 8th fight against fellow veteran Donald Cowboy Cerrone was canceled. That news broke Thursday as Yahoo s Kevin Iole first reported on the situation behind the scenes.
Dana White told Iole that Sanchez s manager/trainer Joshua Fabia is batsh t nuts and cited several incidents including Fabia telling UFC production and commentators how to call his fights and that he told a Nevada Athletic commission rep he taught Sanchez techniques that could kill or paralyze Michael Chiesa ahead of their July 2019 fight. ....
