New Denver Restaurants Opening First Week of February 2021

The unlikely combination of facial hair and cream-filled pastries has worked for Beard Papa s, which has grown to more than 400 locations worldwide since opening in Japan in 1999. Now you can get a messy bite of the company s cream puffs at its first Denver location, which is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
Ambli Mexico, the south-of-the-border spin-off of the original Ambli at 600 Holly Street, closed after two years in that location last fall, but with the promise to return. That day has come, and Ambli Mexico is now serving in Aurora s Fitzsimons neighborhood, at 2101 Ursula Street. Visit for dinner from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and for lunch beginning at 11 a.m. Friday. ....

Larimer Records Cafe Opens in Former Home of the Market

Last March, facing pandemic-based business restrictions, The Market, at 1445 Larimer Street, closed for good after more than forty years of serving espresso drinks, deli sandwiches and baked goods to downtown residents and visitors. And then things really started to change on Larimer Square.
A deal to sell the entire Larimer Square real-estate package was announced in the fall, and the sale by Jeff Hermanson (who had owned Larimer Square since 1993) to Asana Partners closed in mid-December. In the meantime, entrepreneur Josh Sampson, founder of TheBigWonderful, Neon Baby, Denver Bazaar and other ventures, had opened a couple of new projects on the block, including Farmers Market LSQ, a collection of Denver food artisans peddling breads, pastries and other goods inside the former home of the Market. ....

New Denver Restaurants and Closings in January 2021

There s no question that the restaurant industry is still struggling as the coronavirus pandemic rages on. But a mild winter and the partial reopening of dining rooms has made January just a little more bearable than December. Still, many eateries are choosing to stay closed until Denver has better patio weather, more widespread vaccinations and safer projections from government agencies.
Despite the challenges, few restaurants decided to call it quits permanently last month. The Denver Diner and Hearth & Dram had already closed, but in January revealed their decisions to officially throw in the kitchen towel permanently. While the Denver Diner had operated at partial capacity from June to November, it closed for good on November 20, when dining rooms were declared off-limits; the owners have left room for the possibility of opening in a new location in the future. Hearth & Dram never reopened after closing in March, though it originally planned to make a comeback this spring ....

Mama's Noodle Cafe Turns Out Ramen, Pho and Korean Rice Dogs

One of Korea s hottest new food trends has arrived. Called K-dogs, rice dogs or the misnamed (since they re not made with cornmeal) Korean corn dogs, they re generally dipped in batter, rolled in a crunchy coating panko breadcrumbs, flaked corn, puffed rice or even crumbled ramen noodles and then deep-fried before being slathered in salty, sweet and spicy sauces. Some of the more outlandish versions even have big cubes of fried potatoes embedded in the batter, making the dog look like an edible caveman s club.
K-dogs had already made their way onto the menus of a couple of food trucks, but thanks to restaurateur Thuan La, you can now get the specialty at Mama s Noodle Cafe, his eatery at 4690 South Yosemite Street in Greenwood Village. ....

New Denver Restaurants and Closings This Week

Hearth & Dram, the wood-fired eatery inside the Hotel Indigo, was gaining a reputation for some of the most interesting and adventurous dishes in town before it shut down when the pandemic hit last spring. The hotel initially said that the restaurant would reopen at some point, but Hearth & Dram s website now says the closure is permanent, and the hotel notes that it is in the process of developing a new concept to fill the space. Denver s hotel restaurant scene had become quite competitive in recent years, but reduced tourism and business travel in 2020 took quite a toll.
Two long-anticipated restaurants are now open, however. Seasoned Swine, which had been serving from a food truck while putting the finishing touches on its Golden dining room, began seating with limited capacity this week, and Randall s, from chef/owner Randall Borne, officially launched on Friday, January 29, after minor setbacks postponed the opening a week. Borne is serving his Cajun and Creole cuisine fo ....
