Former NSW Police deputy commissioner to lead royal commission into veteran suicides

The veteran suicide royal commission will conduct an in-depth analysis of systemic risk factors leading to serving and returned personnel taking their own lives.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Thursday released the terms of reference for the inquiry, which will be led by former NSW Police deputy commissioner Nick Kaldas.
The death of any Australian Defence Force member or veteran is a terrible tragedy that is deeply felt by all Australia but particularly those who served alongside them and their families, he told reporters in Sydney.
Mr Kaldas also has experience as an investigator of chemical weapons used in Syria. ....

Memorial prepared to welcome more than 7000 for Anzac Day
The last remaining tickets to the 2021 Dawn Service and National Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial have been booked. In line with government advice, the Dawn Service and National Ceremony will be accessible to those 4,200 and 3,000 ticket holders respectively.
Both commemorations will be held on the Parade Ground of the Memorial on Sunday 25 April. The site will be enclosed by fencing for ticket holder access only and to ensure the safety of those attending. Visitors will need to present their tickets on the day for access to designated areas. ....

Thousands of people will be able to attend the Anzac Day Dawn Service and National Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial on Sunday 25 April 2021, the 106th anniversary of the landings at Gallipoli.
The Memorial has worked closely with ACT Health since late 2020 to ensure the safe implementation of Anzac Day commemorations. In line with current government advice, the Dawn Service and National Ceremony will be ticketed, with capacity for 4,200 and 3,000 attendees respectively.
The details of the Veterans’ participation in the National Ceremony are being finalised by the ACT Branch of the Returned and Services League (RSL), which owns and manages the march. As always, the Memorial will reserve seating for the ex-service community and accommodate marching veterans.  ....
