PORT ARANSAS, Texas â The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan assisted eight people aboard a vessel taking on water 22 miles southeast of Port Aransas, Texas, Friday.
At approximately 11:40 a.m., Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi watchstanders received a mayday call over VHF-FM channel 16 from boaters aboard a 35-foot pleasure craft stating they were taking on water and having trouble keeping up with the flooding. ....

Liftboat Capsizes In Gulf Of Mexico, Coast Guard Conducts Search And Rescue

The liftboat Seacor Power, part of Seacor Marine’s fleet of more than a dozen self-propelled and self-raising vessels that serve the offshore oil, gas and wind industries, capsized April 13 amid rough seas and high winds in the Gulf of Mexico, just south of Port Fourchon, Louisiana’s offshore energy production hub.
According to U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans, there were 19 crew members aboard the Seacor Power at the time of the incident. A day after the incident, six crew members had been safely recovered, with 12 still missing. As of that time, one crew member’s body had been recovered. ....

The U.S. Coast Guard revealed Thursday that an incident involving a capsized commercial lift vessel in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico has now been declared a major marine casualty.
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) revealed Thursday that an incident involving a capsized commercial lift vessel in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico has now been declared a major marine casualty.
The USCG is leading a preliminary investigation in relation to the incident and the National Transportation Safety Board will be joining in that effort, the USCG outlined. The organization confirmed Thursday that it is continuing to search for 12 missing people from the capsized vessel eight miles south of Port Fourchon. ....
