SANDAG to Hold Public Scoping Meeting on Central Mobility Hub Project Tonight

The Central Mobility Hub is envisioned to be a transportation center that would improve how people move throughout the San Diego region by connecting a variety of transportation options, including a direct transit link to San Diego International Airport.
This one-stop-shop hub of connectivity will bring transportation, housing, jobs and entertainment to one centralized location, said SANDAG Executive Director Hasan Ikhrata.
Public input is vital to the first step in this process to create the Central Mobility Hub, a critical component to a faster, fairer, cleaner transportation network in the San Diego region.
In addition to providing a direct transit connection to the airport, SANDAG leaders believe the Central Mobility Hub could also serve as one of the region s primary transportation centers connecting Amtrak, the North County Transit District s Coaster line, the trolley, rapid and local bus services and future modes of transit with other mobility options, pub ....

Local leaders are firm in their commitment to create a San Diego “Grand Central Station” that would become the region’s transportation hub. The price tag is somewhere around $4 billion.
The public got a preview of the cost this week when The San Diego Union-Tribune reported the environmental review process will likely be roughly $70 million.

Local leaders are now driving a conceptual airport transit hub, often referred to as “San Diego Grand Central Station,” down an expensive road of technical reviews that could eventually end with taxpayers being asked to spend a billion dollars or more on its development.
Wednesday, the San Diego Association of Governments published a notice of preparation, or NOP, for environmental review of a central mobility hub either at the Navy’s Old Town Campus or a site between Interstate 5 and Pacific Highway near the northeastern edge of the airport. Navy Continues Revitalization Momentum for NAVWAR Facilities in San Diego  -

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – To keep Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) says it is ready to meet its critical, high-tech mission, the Navy is working alongside advocates throughout the San Diego region to create a modern, secure and safe facility to support the command’s high-priority mission and rapidly growing cyber requirements.
Known as the Navy Old Town Campus (OTC) Revitalization Project, this effort centers around the redevelopment of NAVWAR Headquarters, which is currently housed in 1941 World War II aircraft factories, on 70.5 acres of Navy-owned land at Naval Base Point Loma, in the Midway-Pacific Highway Community of San Diego.
