Planning Board Refuses to Call 240-Boat Storage Facility in Hammock a "Marina" But Will Seek to Define the Word

A rendering of the Hammock Harbor redevelopment proposed for the 4 acres next to Hammock Hardware. The building would be larger than the White House or the proposed Sheriff’s Operations Center in Bunnell.
The 240-boat storage facility proposed for a 4-acre parcel on the Intracoastal in the Hammock two years ago ran into its latest setback tonight as the county planning board refused to define the facility as a marina, as its developer wants to do–not yet, anyway.
The board, in a unanimous vote directed the county administration to draft an ordinance that would define the word “marina” and bring it back to the board for a work session within 60 days. That vote followed nearly two hours of discussion, public comment and board members’ wrangling over the request, with some members ridiculing the storage facility’s definition as a marina and wanting to reject it outright. ....

In Flagler Beach, Eyesore to Be Replaced By Vacation Rentals and Shops

A rendering of Ocean Club, the mixed residential and shopping block that will remake the existing Bank of America building.
For almost four decades the structure that came to be known as the Bank of America building sat gloomily like a giant brick with mouseholes on some of Flagler Beach’s prime real estate, at South 3rd Street and South Ocean Shore Boulevard, its brutalist squareness at odds with the charms of the boardwalk across the street or the more modest businesses along A1A.
That’s finally about to change. Last week the Flagler Beach City Commission approved plans to make over the building into seven efficiency-apartment type vacation rentals upstairs and clothing and gift shops downstairs, what will be called Ocean Club. ....

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – Two well-reviewed ocean shore restaurants in Flagler Beach are back open after they were temporarily shut down by health inspectors last week.
Inspectors found rodent droppings at both The Net By George and Bed and Breakfast By The Sea, otherwise known as By The Sea Cafe.
The Net By George on Ocean Shore Boulevard racked up 19 violations during a routine inspection on April 15. Among the basic-level violations, the inspector found duct tape used to repair an oven handle and no soap at a handwashing sink ....
