At some local businesses, your COVID-19 shot can get you more than just immunity

Some Edmonton businesses are giving their customers extra motivation to get a COVID-19 vaccination.
Fleisch Delikatessan is entering people into a draw for a $100 gift certificate if you send images proving your vaccination. The draw will happen in June.
“We wanted to do something to provide an incentive for people to get vaccinated and then also have something to look forward to, to celebrate getting vaccinated,” owner Katy Ingraham told CTV News Edmonton.
“Any incentive that is encouraging people to get vaccinated and do their part is really great!”
Woodshed Burgers is giving customers a free side order of fries or onion rings if you purchase a burger and you go in an after you’ve been vaccinated that day. ....

Coronavirus: Why doctors, worker advocates are calling for permanent paid sick days in Canada


Last year, the federal government introduced the Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit, which was designed in part to counteract the fact that several provinces didn’t expand their own sickness benefits. The benefit provides $500 per week for up to four weeks and cannot be claimed if an employee has paid sick leave through their workplace.
But harsh criticism is coming from the CRWC, as well as the Ontario Federation of Labour and its counterparts in other provinces, who point out:
Workers can only apply if they’re sick with COVID-19, or if their employer or public health authority advises them to self-isolate; ....
