OUSD school board to meet Monday, May 3, about new assistant superintendent position, reorganization

Ojai Unified school board will hold a special meeting via teleconference to discuss multiple personnel matters on Monday, May 3, starting at 6 p.m. in closed session. When it meets in open session, it will discuss a proposed reorganization, which includes the hiring of an assistant superintendent of Business Services.
The meeting will open at 6 p.m. in open session to receive public comments, if there are any, then adjourn to closed session to discuss the personnel matters.
The board is scheduled to reopen in open session at 6:30 p.m., at which time it will report on action taken in closed session. ....

Work is moving right along on the new Georgian Bay Community School in Meaford, with students and staff on track to be in the classrooms to begin the school year in the fall.
Once open the new $29.4 million school will be able to accommodate more than 1,000 junior kindergarten to Grade 12 students, replacing the community’s St. Vincent-Euphrasia Elementary School and current Georgian Bay Community School.

Lompoc Unified School District names three new administrators

Lompoc Unified School District
LOMPOC, Calif. Lompoc Unified School District announced three new administrators on Friday.
The District named Doug Sorum as the Interim Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Sam Blanton as the Maintenance and Operations Director, and Scott Bauldry as the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor.
Sorum has worked at the district for 25 years. He attended Lompoc Schools and has sent his children through the school system.
“We are proud to promote our own and reward hard work, dedication, and competence,” said Superintendent Trevor McDonald.
Blanton has been a veteran employee since 1998. Blanton graduated from LUSD schools and was previously the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor. ....

Good News: Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Announces Classified Employee of the Year
The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) honored Betty Weihe as the Classified Employee of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year at Thursday’s Governing Board meeting. As the Classified Employee of the Year, Ms. Weihe will represent FSUSD at the Solano County Educator of the Year event in April 2021. The Governing Board officially announced Ms. Weihe s achievement and recognized sixteen additional classified employees during the February 11, 2021 meeting.
Ms. Weihe has served FSUSD as a Staff Accountant in the Business office for over twenty years. Her supervisor and peers appreciate her institutional knowledge and dedication to the staff, students, and parents. Michelle Henson, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services stated, Betty is my go-to person when strengthening the District s practices and board policies with asset monitoring, Associated Student Body ....

The San Diego County Board of Education placed long-time County Superintendent Randy Ward on administrative leave as they initiate a forensic audit in the wake of a lawsuit claiming Ward was engaged in self-dealing.
At the monthly meeting of the County Board of Education on Wednesday, July 13, several teachers spoke about concerns raised in a lawsuit filed last week by the California Taxpayer Action Network (CalTAN). The lawsuit alleges that Ward asked for and received an amendment to his contract in 2014 that connected his pay raises to those given to teachers and classified employees of the County. ....
