Dressed in the hardcover green-and-gold of The Gateway student newspaper’s annual bound editions, it’d be reasonable to assume the new anthology Midlife is some sort of fetish object for insiders.
On the surface, the book certainly feels like an intimate class reunion given physical form: 27 Xennial to Millennial former contributors of the notoriously freewheeling, curse-spattered U of A student newspaper suddenly finding themselves whoopsie! middle-aged, spinning their thoughts into free range, op-ed style personal essays.

Some Edmonton businesses are giving their customers extra motivation to get a COVID-19 vaccination.
Fleisch Delikatessan is entering people into a draw for a $100 gift certificate if you send images proving your vaccination. The draw will happen in June.
“We wanted to do something to provide an incentive for people to get vaccinated and then also have something to look forward to, to celebrate getting vaccinated,” owner Katy Ingraham told CTV News Edmonton.
“Any incentive that is encouraging people to get vaccinated and do their part is really great!”
Woodshed Burgers is giving customers a free side order of fries or onion rings if you purchase a burger and you go in an after you’ve been vaccinated that day. ....

As thousands of Albertans continue to roll up their sleeves for a COVID-19 vaccine, some businesses and institutions across the province are offering incentives or rewards for customers and staff who get their shot.
Cold Garden Beverage Company in Calgary’s Ramsay neighbourhood is trading proof of a shot for a cold one, called ‘Cans for Community Immunity’
“Beer is all about community, said cofounder Dan Allard. “Frankly we just want to be back to normal so we’re doing everything we can to keep that momentum going and we’ll give some free beer to do it.” ....
