FULTON COUNTY, Ga. A pivotal step in helping prevent homelessness was unveiled in Fulton County Wednesday.
The Support Anyone Facing Eviction (SAFE) Program is part of an effort to keep Fulton County citizens “safe” by helping renters, and also mortgage owners who depend on renter payments to cover their mortgages.
Developed by Fulton County Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman, with the assistance of Chief Magistrate Judge Cassandra Kirk, the program is designed to be a “fast-track” system in identifying renters facing eviction at the final stages. ....

Fulton County Commissioner On Atlanta's Crime Problem


Violent crime has spiked in Atlanta during the COVID-19 pandemic with reports showing an increased rate of homicides and gun crimes over the previous year.
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms appointed interim Police Chief Rodney Bryant to the position permanently this week and outlined steps the city is taking to address the problem.
Fulton County Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman’s plan for how to spend $206 million in funds from the American Rescue Plan includes money to help reduce crime, including $2.7 million for a youth summer job program.

ATLANTA The nation watched closely as a guilty verdict was read for all three charges in the Derek Chauvin trial for the murder of George Floyd.
The jurors seated for the Chauvin trial deliberated for less than 12 hours before reaching their verdict on Tuesday. They delivered a verdict of guilty on the charges of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
